PET Can be recycled into a variety of useful products
Whilst PVC is a topic of debate among environmentalists and businesses that are trying to reduce the impact that plastic has on the environment, PET is a more sustainable alternative that, instead of ending up in a landfill can easily be recycled and made into a variety of useful products.
PVC is a rigid plastic designed to withstand harsh impacts and is highly durable which some professionals believe is its downfall as it is not biodegradable or degradable due to its inclusion of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. These heavy metals are the same reason why PVC is difficult to recycle due to their impact on the environment. In addition, when melted, PVC emits a highly poisonous substance called Dioxin which is a compounding poison that stays in the body for a long time.
PET on the other hand is very light and durable, and although offers the same quality as PVC, is much more environmentally friendly as its recycling process is very similar to that of paper and, it can effectively be made into a variety of other products such as other plastic bottles or containers, and even clothing.
When it comes to the manufacture of PVC and PET plastic containers, both have their uses and are of value based on the application but overall, the verdict is that PET is the better option when choosing what to manufacture your plastic containers out of.
